Luka takes Sam home
"So..." He pulled her glass to her before picking his bottle up. "All alone now." He took a pull on the bottle. "You need to go home to Alex?"
She smirked and took a sip out of her glass and nodded, "All alone indeed." She nodded again, "Yeah, at some point tonight I should go home to him. The baby sitter left about an hour ago."
"Maybe I should see you home then..shouldn't be there alone."
She smirked up at him and nodded, "No, definitely not."
He downed his beer and stood...and seemed remarkably steady for the number of empties.
She finished her drink in turn and moved to stand, swaying slightly and grabbing onto him for support
"You're not driving right?" The bartender calls to them from behind the bar as they prepare to leave.
"No, not driving." Luka shakes his head as he realizes he's more drunk then he'd thought.
"Okay then, stay safe." The man smiles before turning back to help other customers.
Luka slipped his arm around her waist as she stood. "We catching the El or a taxi?"
She leaned into him and shrugged, "I've got my card for the El and I'm now out of cash for a taxi, whichever you'd prefer."
"I'm sure I could swing for the taxi...your choice." He walked her to the door as he spoke, his arm still around her.
She wrapped her own arm around his waist, clutching at the fabric, "Whichever is faster in these parts."
"Taxi I think." He held the door open for her as they reached it. Sam smiled and let go of him as she stepped out into the night air.
Once he had followed her out he waited to see if she'd move back to him before going any further.
She looked back to see where he is, reaching back for him, linking her fingers with his as she looked for a taxi.
He took her hand with a small smile. "So..no work tomorrow?"
She shook her head, "Nope, none."
"What were you planning to do?"
She shrugged, "Stay in bed all day, be lazy." She turned to look at him slightly, "You?"
He shrugged. "No bed...using the couch right now."
She tipped her head up toward him, "Why don't you get a place of your own?"
"I was staying in a hotel...long story. Just wasn't sure I'd be here long enough to get an apartment."
She nodded, "Fair enough, but now you are?"
"I don't know..maybe...hadn't really thought about it much I guess."
She nodded and gasped when she saw the taxi, waving it down.
"You been here long? In Chicago I mean."
She shakes her head, "Just a few days...almost a week."
"You like it?" He moved over to open the door for her as the cab pulled to the curb.
Sam nodded, "It's nice enough, you know?"
"Yeah...can take Alex to see the Cubs." He waited for her to get in then crawled in behind her.
She nodded and crawled into the cab, putting her seatbelt on, "Yeah."
He waited for her to give directions to her apt to the cab driver before saying anything else and when he did his voice was quiet. "If you want to say goodnight at the door when we get to your apartment it's okay..I know we're both little drunk."
She gives the driver directions before settling back down next to him. She shakes her head, "No, it's fine."
He slips his arm around her shoulder and fingers a lock of her hair before questioning her quietly. "You're sure?"
She nodded again, firmly, "I'm sure. Very sure."
